Sunday, November 27th

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

My prayer for everyone this week is that we hold close all the amazing blessings God has graced us with! We are overly blessed and all we need to do to remember this is look around. Our lives may not be perfect but the world around us is daily proof that without our Savior, we are all lost in a sinful world. So hug a little tighter, laugh a little louder, eat a little too much, leave cleaning the kitchen for just one more hour, and pause to praise our Lord for His selfless gift of eternal life available to each of us! Thank you for being so supportive to me and to our Youth Pastors! Your children are their number one priority here at church! These three men love without limits and through that, create such a wonderful place for your students to learn and grow in the light of God's word! We couldn't do what we do without your love and support so from the bottom of my heart and I know I am speaking for the guys too, thank you for everything!

Have an incredibly beautiful week!

This week we wrap up our short series on the Beatitudes, found in Matthew 5. Our conversation will provide a great reminder about how living the life that God desires for us can earn us the label of “not normal.”
The passage known as the Beatitudes takes things we think of as “normal” and turns them upside-down. Jesus preached the Beatitudes to challenge the popular thinking about some important issues. Pursuing God changes our priorities, and the individuals we interact with on a daily basis might not understand this. But Scripture reminds us that even in those moments, Jesus has faced true persecution—and he walks alongside when we face rejection or mockery.
As you go throughout the week, help reinforce the conversation in your child’s life by asking these kinds of questions:

  • How does being merciful reflect God’s character and reveal God’s heart to the world around you?
  • Why is it such a struggle to maintain Christ-centered thoughts and a pure heart?
  • In some parts of the world today, Christ-followers face the threat of imprisonment, torture, and even death—all because of their faith. So why are most of us scared by ridicule, rejection, or mockery—the kind of “persecution” we’re most likely to face?

Encourage and/or challenge your teenagers to memorize the verse below.
“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God”
(Matthew 5:9).

Have an amazing week!
