Sunday, October 8th

Hello Parents!

With recent events and the school year in full swing, things can be a little crazy. All the practices, rehearsals, and events that go along with you and your student might leave you a little drained and exhausted. So real quick, we would like to share some Scripture that might help energize you! Psalm 28:7-8 says, "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him. The LORD is the strength of His people, a fortress of salvation for His anointed one." We pray that you might regain some energy and have some heart jumpin' joy coming your way this week!

Love you all tons, and as always please let us know if we can ever be of assistance for you and your students. We are here for you.

It is a three week series discussing our need to be grateful to God, influences around us, and some other people we may not notice on a daily basis! At the end of this storm, there is a lot to be thankful for. Why wait until Thanksgiving to be thankful for what God has blessed us with!

THIS SUNDAY DURING SMALL GROUP TIME | This coming Sunday, we are very excited to be teaching on church membership for both the middle school and high school sides. This is essentially a new member class "student style"! The heart behind this Sunday morning is to convey how important church membership is, to learn what it means to be a member, and to serve as a part of the body of Christ here at Church at the Mall.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD! |
It’s that time of year again! Throughout October we are focusing hard on Operation Christmas Child! The shoeboxes we put together aren’t only an exciting gift for the child receiving it, but each box also comes with a Bible in their language and the opportunity for the child to enroll in “The Greatest Journey,” a 12-week discipleship program where the child learns about Jesus and how to follow Him with their lives! Last year over 3.5 MILLION children said “yes” to the opportunity to participate in The Greatest Journey, 2.5 million completed the full 12 weeks, and 1.6 million dedicated their lives to following Jesus!! Our efforts toward Operation Christmas Child are not for a one-day or one-week thrill of a new toy, but for the life changing knowledge of Jesus Christ and His offer of eternal salvation! You can see exactly what items to bring to fill a shoebox here! We will have drop off boxes in the middle school and high school for the specific items.
We will need items collected by Sunday November 5th. That morning, we will have a packing party to fill shoeboxes and get them ready to be sent to a child in need!

SUGAR RUSH | OCTOBER 25th: To make Sugar Rush as EPIC as possible, we need candy. Lots and LOTS of candy! So, between now and October 25th, students can bring in a bag of candy of their choice to share for Sugar Rush! It will definitely be an amazing night full of fun, fellowship, and candy!!!

HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT!!! | This year we will be going to Daytona Beach! We will stay at Country Inn and Suites in Port Orange and have a very similar schedule to last year's, just in a different location! The dates are still November 10-11 but the cost is $85 IF you sign up and pay by October 29th. The cost will go to $100 after that date. There will be a parent meeting November 5th in the high school room right after church!

What an absolute blessing it is to be able to partner with you! You are loved deeply and appreciated. If you have any questions, we’re here for you!

CURRICULUM

Dear parents,

This Sunday we will be taking our students through what will essentially be a new member class, but "student style"! We will focus on three major aspect of what it is to become a member here at Church at the Mall. We will teach on who we are and our history as a church, what we believe as a church, and what exactly membership at a church is and its importance as the body of Christ.

The heart behind this is to provide an opportunity for students to 1) understand what it means to be a member of the church, and 2) take them through the necessary steps to become a member here at Church at the Mall.

So this week, take a moment to ask your student what they think it means to be a member of the church and why it is important to be a member of the local church.
