Sunday, March 12th

Hello Parents!
First of all, let me apologize for being "out of pocket" this last week. I got the bug that seems to be plaguing the multitudes and was out the whole week :/ If you have reached out unsuccessfully, please try again! I'm back! I promise I wasn't ignoring anyone purposely!

Ok! Here we go! We are getting in gear for summer and that takes quite a bit of planning! Please be sure to read the upcoming events each week. Details within them may change as the weeks go by giving you more insight on needs, deadlines, etc.

If there's something you have a question about but you don't see it in the email or on the website, please feel free to reach out!

If you ever miss an email or need to find out more info on any of our upcoming events, take a look at our Parent Central! Click here

Dear parents,

You’re pretty humble, right? (Warning—that’s a trick question.)

That’s the problem with genuine humility: Everyone thinks they have it, but the moment we think we have it, we no longer have it. Still, humility is an important topic, and it’s what we will discuss this week during our third lesson of “Me and the Church.” Our hope is that our teenagers recognize the rewards of being specifically honest and open about our imperfect lives—how it creates space for Jesus to perfectly and openly shine into other people’s lives.

You probably already know what this means because of your journey as a parent. You can either put up a front and appear all put together, or you can be as faithful as possible to what you know—and ask for grace for the rest. It’s a great metaphor for our faith as followers of Jesus and what it means to be God’s church.

As always, I encourage you to spend a few minutes talking with your teenager about our lesson. Here are some questions to fuel your discussion:

  • When have you felt like you had to admit something out loud that you found a little embarrassing, like you weren’t good at a sport or a subject?
  • How does humility relate to being a follower of Jesus?
  • What might happen if your friends knew you were a little more flawed than they may realize you are? What if I knew this about you and still loved you?

Encourage and/or challenge your teenagers to memorize the Scripture below.

“Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us” (Romans 12:3).

I’m praying you enjoy that dialogue and that you keep on keeping on, being the best you that Jesus has shown you to be!
