SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14th

Hello Parents!

We are so excited about our Wednesday night series! We are taking a broad stroke of Scripture and helping students understand the significance of the entirety of God’s Word! It is called Meta and it refers to the meta-narrative, or whole story, of scripture and how it points to Jesus Christ. Our hope is that students will have a fresh perspective of God’s Word so they will be even more excited to study it on their own! Feel free to come and join us on a Wednesday night!

Love you all tons, and as always please let us know if we can ever be of assistance to you and your students. We are here for you.

This will be an incredible time to come together as one church, and love on the city of Auburndale. Students will be helping with games and passing out candy.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
We are deep into our teaching series on Wednesday nights called “Meta” looking at the big picture, or meta-narrative, of the Bible and the ONE story that it tells, God's plan to redeem and restore His creation!  If you have never been to a student service, we encourage you to come and check it out!  We love it when parents step in to see what we are all about!!!

FAMILY NIGHT MEALS
Looking for a cheap and easy way to feed the family before church?  No problem!  Every Wednesday night (that’s right EVERY Wednesday night!) at 5pm a meal will be provided at a family friendly price in the Skylight area! We would love for you to come out and eat with us!

We are so excited about our Middle School Girl’s Night Event.  This “Fall in Love with Jesus” all-night event will be filled with games, food, crafts and so much more!!  The Middle School Girl Leaders continue to encourage your daughter to build friendships within their youth group and deepen their walk with the Lord, but we need more time to do that~~so what could be better than a fun-filled ALL-GIRLS SLEEP OVER PARTY!!  The leaders have some really neat things planned for your daughter to participate in, plus we have a very special guest that will be sharing evening devotions with the girls. The price for this event is $10 to cover food and crafts.  Registration starts this Sunday at the Student Welcome Desk.

We love and care about the families in our ministry so deeply, and our heart is to serve you and your family in the best way that we can! If there is anything we can do to help, please feel the freedom to let us know.

CURRICULUM

Dear Parents,

During our series about gray areas, we’ve addressed challenging situations and invited students to think about how to make wise choices. This week, we will look at 1 Corinthians 8:1-10, where Paul addressed an interesting struggle. The Corinthian Christians wondered whether it was OK to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols. On one hand, they knew it was just food. Still, it had been part of a pagan religious ceremony, and they didn’t want any role in that.

Rather than setting up a system of rules, Paul encouraged the Corinthians to think about the effects of their actions. Often we need to leave behind complex regulations and focus more on wisdom, discernment, and closely following Jesus.

This week, I encourage you to spend a few minutes talking with your teenager about our lesson. You can use these questions to begin your conversation:

  • What are some examples of times we focus so much on religion that we miss Jesus?

  • When have rigid rules or strong opinions negatively affected one of your friendships?

  • How is the Scripture passage about food sacrificed to idols relevant to your life today?

  • What makes it hard or easy for you to focus on Jesus?

We’re so grateful for all your support and prayers. Know that we’re praying for you, as well!
