We are in November, and you know what that means?! You can officially start singing Christmas songs and decorating the house without people questioning your sanity! And tonight in Student Ministry we are kicking off our new teaching series, “Backstory.” We will be looking at some of the Christmas narrative characters, talk about their backstories, and the events that lead them to meet King Jesus! Also during this series, our students will get the opportunity to hear some of the backstories, or testimonies, of some of their leaders, other students, and church staff. It will be an amazing series and we would love for you to join us!
Love you all tons, and as always please let us know if we can ever be of assistance to you and your students. We are here for you.
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN STUDENT WORLD!
These are the big events that are coming up in our student ministry!

Last Sunday we kicked off Turkey Bowl! This is a competition to build unity, fellowship, and discipleship for our Connect Groups! Each group will earn points by completing challenges (Challenges include: turning in Operation Christmas Child boxes, memorizing Scripture, inviting friends, and more!). The due date for Operation Christmas Child boxes is this Sunday, November 11th! The winning group will share a delicious lunch together on December 2nd after Connect Groups! The goal is to challenge, grow, and have fun!
Backstory starts tonight! It’ll be a great way to get deeper into the Christmas narrative! Don’t be a stranger on Wednesday nights. We always welcome parents and loved ones to come and check out what we are doing in the Student Ministry!
FAMILY NIGHT MEALS
Looking for a cheap and easy way to feed the family before church? No problem! Every Wednesday night (that’s right EVERY Wednesday night!) at 5pm a meal will be provided at a family friendly price in the Skylight area! We would love for you to come out and eat with us!
HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT IS HERE! | November 9th-10th
High School Retreat is just days away!!! This year we will partner with Word of Life to be part of an event called Reverb! It will be an all-nighter in Orlando that will consist of an Orlando Magic basketball game, indoor go-karts, archery tag, basketball, volleyball, ice skating and so much more! Word of life will be sharing the Gospel, so it would be a great event for students to invite their unsaved friends! We will meet at 5pm at the church for check-in and dinner! It is going to be AWESOME!
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL'S NIGHT EVENT | November 9th-10th
We are so excited about our Middle School Girl’s Night Event. This “Fall in Love with Jesus” all-night event will be filled with games, food, crafts and so much more!! The Middle School Girl Leaders continue to encourage your daughter to build friendships within their youth group and deepen their walk with the Lord, but we need more time to do that~~so what could be better than a fun-filled ALL-GIRLS SLEEPOVER PARTY!! The leaders have some really neat things planned for your daughter to participate in, plus we have a very special guest that will be sharing evening devotions with the girls. The price for this event is $10 to cover food and crafts. Register at the Student Welcome Desk.
We love and care about the families in our ministry so deeply, and our heart is to serve you and your family in the best way we can! If there is anything we can do to help, please feel the freedom to let us know.
Luis and Chad
Our students are continuing their way through our series on apologetics—lessons that are designed to give teenagers a chance to thoughtfully examine their faith and prepare for conversations with people of different beliefs.
This week our conversations will examine the differences between Islam and Christianity. We will discuss how the god of Islam, Allah, is not a triune God, and because of this, he would be incapable of understanding love and relationship. It is this characteristic of Allah that helps to turn Islam into a works-based religion.
Here are some questions that might be worth asking your teenager this week:
Why do you think Muslims and Christians have had so much conflict throughout history?
How can you pursue a lifestyle filled with good deeds, without falling into the trap of thinking you can earn salvation or make God love you more than he already does?
Why is Jesus such a polarizing figure, even so many centuries after he walked the face of this world?
Please contact me if you have any follow-up questions about this week’s conversation, or if you would like any additional resources. Have a blessed week!
