SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th

Hello Parents!

Tonight is the last night of our "I Will" series, and we would love for you to talk to your student about it! We have seen some great responses to this series, and our heart is that our students will be excited to invite, welcome, value, and invest in people around them! We will begin a new series next week and we are pumped to see students continue to be effective for the kingdom of God!

Love you all tons, and as always please let us know if we can ever be of assistance to you and your students. We are here for you.

HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN STUDENT WORLD!

These are the big events that are coming up in our student ministry!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Our focus tonight is “I will invest”. We desire for our students to know how vitally important it is for them to invest in those around them.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILY EVENT (KICKBALL AND COOKOUT)
We will have a FREE kickball and cookout event for all middle schoolers and their families on Saturday September 22 from 4 to 6pm at Dobbins Park. It will be an awesome time for fun, free food, and KICKBALL! See you then!

HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT IS HERE! | November 9th-10th
It will look completely different from last year. Due to the fact that Veterans Day doesn't land on a Friday this year, we decided it would be tough to justify spending money on a hotel for a very short trip. So this year, we will be partnering with Word of Life to be part of an event called Reverb! It will be an all-nighter in Orlando that will consist of an Orlando Magic basketball game, indoor go karts, archery tag, basketball, volleyball, ice skating and so much more! Word of life will be sharing the Gospel, so it would be a great event for students to invite their unsaved friends! We will keep you posted on schedule and cost very soon!

We love and care about the families in our ministry so deeply, and our heart is to serve you and your family in the best way that we can! If there is anything we can do to help, please feel the freedom to let us know.

CURRICULUM

Dear Parents,

We’re now on the third of four lessons that dig deep into how Jesus described himself in Scripture, in our series called “In His Own Words.” We’re discovering the ways Jesus “framed” who he is—his purpose, motivation, and intentions.

In this third lesson, we will slow down to chew on two very short parables Jesus told—the pearl of great price and the treasure buried in the field—that Jesus uses to describe himself. The idea behind each of these parables is simple: Once you understand what an incredibly valuable treasure Jesus is, it’s a no-brainer to give everything you have to gain him.

This week, I encourage you to spend a few minutes talking with your teenager about our lesson. Here are a few questions to consider asking:

  • What’s the most valuable thing you own, and what makes it valuable to you?

  • In some countries it’s illegal to follow and worship Jesus publicly—if you lived in such a country, but the government said you could buy a “license” to follow Jesus publicly, what would you be willing to pay for it, if anything? Explain.

  • What aspects of who Jesus is make him a “treasure”?

Thanks for praying for our students and our ministry. Have an awesome week!
