Hello Parents!

This past Sunday we kicked off our church-wide evangelism emphasis called “Who’s Your One?”!  It is an opportunity to think about, pray, and share the Gospel with at least one person in your life who is far from God and needs to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. We have a really cool display on Main Street to visually see the impact it is making! We are so excited about this, we will be spending the next three weeks emphasizing this in Students as well! We will encourage our students to be praying for their “one” person to lift up in prayer, to extend an invitation to church, and to be bold in sharing the Gospel to them. It will be a great season of prayer and evangelism at Church at the Mall!

Love you all tons, and as always please let us know if we can ever be of assistance to you and your students. We are here for you.

These are the big events that are coming up in our student ministry!

Colossians 1:28-29

Dear Parents,

Hello again! We’re already on Lesson 12 of The Thread if you can believe that. Recall, The Thread is our year-long look at the big-picture story of the Bible, and how we see the Gospel threading through it. This week’s lesson will be a really awesome time of fellowship and learning. We hope your teenager enjoys it.

This week, the lesson is entitled “The Ten Commandments,” and it will focus on helping students understand The Ten Commandments, why God gave them to Israel, and how we, today, become members of God’s family.

We will look at the following Scripture passages:

  • Exodus 19:1-6

  • Exodus 20:1-17

  • Titus 2:11-14

Check out these passages. They show both God’s call on our lives to obey Him, and God’s demonstration of His grace and mercy through salvation.

Next Steps . . .
During the next week set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager:

  • You talked a lot about the commandments that God gave Moses to give to the Israelites. What do you think about the commandments? Do you think they were necessary? How do you feel about the Ten Commandments God gave?

  • After a while, it was pretty obvious that the Israelites couldn’t keep all of the commandments all the time. And it’s clear that we can’t do it either. But why is this a big deal to God? Why do you think He can’t just move past it?

  • So, the awesome thing is that even though we couldn’t live up to our side of the covenant, God sent Jesus to pay our penalty and provide a way for us to still be a part of His family. What do you think about this? Do you think we take this for granted? Or do you think it motivates us to do what God has called us to do and share it with others?

Thank you for all you do. If you have any questions about anything, please don’t hesitate to call us.
